How we use AI.
AI may help us, as an assistant and never as the editor. People choose the places, the photographs are ours, and an author approves every new place before it is published.
What stays with us
- Choosing the places. AI never decides what goes on Journey Place.
- The photographs. They are ours. AI never fetches pictures from the web. If it looks at an image, for instance to suggest a description for people who cannot see it, the image is one of our own.
- The last word on a new place. A new place, and the words about it, are approved by an author before they are published.
Where AI may help
Writing. When AI helps draft the text of a place, it starts from our own notes and from facts that have been checked against sources. Our notes weigh most: where a source disagrees with them, ours win. A sentence that no checked fact supports is dropped.
Research. When AI helps gather and check practical facts, such as an address or opening hours, it works from official sources and from Google’s place data. We take facts, not other people’s words: descriptions from other sites are not copied.
Search engines and AI assistants
Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to read Journey Place and to quote it. robots.txt names the AI crawlers we allow, and llms.txt is a plain-text summary of the site for assistants, with a link to every city, type of place and guide.
Please cite the page you used, with the name Journey Place and the page’s address. The admin, API and sign-in areas are closed to all crawlers.
